10 WORLDS (10 SPIRITUAL REALMS)

The ten spiritual realms are part of the belief of some forms of Buddhism that there are ten conditions of life which sentient beings are subject to, and which they experience from moment to moment.

The ten spiritual realms are part of Buddhist cosmology and consist of four higher realms and six lower realms.

Some schools of Buddhism see them as being external, ten different planes of existence beings can be born into, whilst others see them as states of mind that can be shifted between due to external and internal influences. The following is a description of the ten realms as mental states.

Six realms of desire

The six lower realms are Hell, Hunger, Animality, Arrogance, Humanity and Rapture.

These six lower worlds arise automatically from within people’s lives in response to external surroundings. Three of the four remaining worlds are: Learning, Realization and Bodhisattva. These worlds are developed through seeking, discovering and aspiring. The tenth world, Buddhahood, is a condition of pure, indestructible happiness.

Hell

Hell is a condition of total claustrophobic aggression, in which one perceives no freedom of action and has very little life-force (physical or mental energy). One feels totally trapped by one's circumstances, the being is dominated by anger, hatred and frustrated rage and, in extreme cases, the urge to destroy oneself and everything else. It is a very difficult realm to escape from, since the condition tends to be self-perpetuating, with intense suffering and aggression feeding each other (one's sojourn in Hell is described as being measured in kalpas).

Paradoxically, although this state is characterized by claustrophobia, there is an obsession with filling up any space which may present itself, since the space itself is perceived as being threatening. The desire not to fall into this condition is a powerful incentive for people to make efforts to rise above this state in daily life.
This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of Naraka.

Hunger

Hunger is a condition characterized by possessiveness and insatiable desires which govern one's actions, for food, power, wealth, fame, pleasure and so on.

In this state one is tormented by relentless craving and the inability, even when the desire is achieved, to enjoy its fruition. This realm is characterized by a total lack of willpower and the disregard of all things except the fulfillment of desires.
This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of the Pretas (Hungry Ghosts).

Animality

Animality is a condition in which one is governed by instinct, in which one has no sense of morality and lives only for the present moment. In this state one won't hesitate to prey on weaker beings for personal gain, and will try to attract the attentions of stronger beings in order to side with them. This realm is characterized by the total lack of good judgment and reason.

This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of Animals.

Arrogance (or anger)

Arrogance is the condition in which one is dominated by the selfish ego, competitiveness, paranoid jealousy and the need to be superior in all things. The experiencer is a slave to his/her delusions, viewing oneself as more important than - and superior to - others. This realm is characterized by viewing other beings as potential threats. Still, the rest of the experience in this realm is generally quite pleasant as compared to the human realm.
This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of the Asuras or 'half-gods'.

Humanity (or passionate idealism)

Humanity is the state in which the discriminating awareness and the thinking mind are most highly developed.
It is characterized by ambitious passion for abstract ideals and role models, and is unique among the lower realms in providing both the potential means and the motivation to transcend suffering. It is also characterized by shortness of life, in comparison to the Deva and Asura realms, and by being extremely rare in occurrence, without refuge in the Dharma.
This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of Humans.

Heaven (or rapture)

Heaven is the condition of pleasure, when one's desires are fulfilled and one experiences short-lived but intense feelings of joy. Unlike the true happiness of Buddhahood, however, this state is temporary and, like Humanity, easily disrupted by even a slight change of circumstances. One will inevitably descend to a lower realm once the joy dies away. This realm is characterized by not feeling negative emotions and being less vulnerable to external influences than the lower realms.
This condition is comparable to the Buddhist world of the Devas or 'gods'.

The majority of sentient beings spend most of their time moving between these six conditions of life, from Hell to Rapture, governed by their reactions to external influences and therefore highly vulnerable to all of the six lower realms, the experiencer's emotional state is totally controlled by externals. Indeed his/her entire identity is based on externals.

Four higher (noble) realms

In traditional Mahayana Buddhist cosmology, the four higher realms are four of the ten spiritual realms.
The four higher worlds are characterized by the belief that humans need to make an effort to reveal themselves from within their lives.

Learning

Learning is a condition in which one seeks some skill, lasting truth or self-improvement through the teachings of others.
To access this realm, the experiencer must first develop the desire to gain wisdom and insight into the true nature of all things, free from delusion. This realm is characterized by the seeking of truth and wisdom through external sources, e.g. other people and pre-recorded information (usually texts).

This condition is comparable to the state of the Śrāvakabuddha.

Realization (or absorption)

Realization is a state in which one discovers a partial truth through one's own observations, efforts and concentration. Usually to access this realm the experiencer must first have decided external sources are inferior to internal sources, e.g. his/her own mind. This realm is characterized by the seeking of truth and wisdom through direct internal perception.
This condition is comparable to the state of the Pratyekabuddha.

The two above realms are collectively known as 'the two vehicles'. Even though these realms are based upon the desire to increase wisdom and insight, ego is still present, as these desires are primarily self-oriented.

Bodhisattvahood

Bodhisattvahood is a condition in which one not only aspires for personal enlightenment but also devotes oneself to relieving the sufferings of others through compassionate and truly altruistic actions, e.g. helping others. This realm is characterized by the feeling that happiness achieved through the benefit of others is superior to happiness achieved through the benefit of only the self.
This condition is that of a Bodhisattva.

Buddhahood

Buddhahood is the highest of the Ten Worlds, a condition of pure, indestructible happiness which is not dependent on one's circumstances. The experiencer is totally free from all delusion, suffering and anger. It is a condition of perfect and absolute freedom, characterized by boundless wisdom, courage, compassion and life force. This realm is difficult to describe and is generally only obtained through the direct internal perception of the realm of realization.

This realm is characterized by not being shifted into lower realms due to external sources, and the non-reliance on external sources for happiness. This realm is manifested outwardly through the actions of the realm of bodhisattvahood.
This condition is that of a fully enlightened Buddha.

Interpenetration of the Ten Realms

Each of the Ten Worlds possesses all Ten Worlds.

Each has the potential to reveal any of the others at any moment.

Some sects of Buddhism believe that as people practice Buddhism they make Buddhahood the dominant state of their lives, as it acts as a kind of filter, revealing the positive aspects of the other nine worlds from Hell to Bodhisattva.

The realms are labeled the same by Buddhist sects that see them as planes of existence, the difference being the only way to shift between them is through rebirth. This is governed by karma (action and volition: the choices made during life).

OPENING THE THIRD EYE

How to Open Your Third Eye

Release any blockages you may have. Emotions like anxiety , fear and insecurity are blocks that will prevent you from opening your third eye.

Visualize your chakras. The chakras are energy centers, seven spinning wheels, in the energy field surrounding the body. When you can visualize and clear your chakras it becomes easier to open your third eye. Read "Chakra Clearing" by Doreen Virtue to learn more .

Begin to meditate. Meditation helps to focus and relax the mind. You will need to clear your mind of chatter in order to receive clear impressions from the third eye.

Begin each exercise by relaxing your breathing. Breathe in slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth until you reach an alpha state. Record the results of the exercises in a journal to track your progress. Review the results to decipher the meaning behind what you see.

Close your eyes. Using your index finger, touch the spot just above the area between your physical eyes. This is the location of your third eye. Push your finger up gently, as if prying the eyelid open.

Practice seeing colors. Focus on the screen behind your closed eyes. Your third eye will begin to open and you will see a color. When you do, stop to rest.

Practice seeing shapes. Watch the screen behind your closed eyes. After a while, you will begin to see colors, and then shapes. When you see a shape, stop.

Watch your screen for images. When an image appears, imagine that you are moving closer to examine it. Stop and record everything you noticed about the image, including color and movement.

Close your eyes and mentally ask your spirit guides for any messages they may have for you. Watch for any images that may appear. Then stop to figure out the message behind what you have seen.

Use your third eye to try remote viewing. Close your eyes, slow your breathing and let your mind wander into outer space. You may see elements of the Solar system. Take notes.

They asked for the material bhiksha for the survival and some educational social facility. The greater value of the Bhiksha was in asking begging for good timely wisdom for all by these saints. Many did so and are doing today. One of such sanit 400 years ago was Swami samarth ramdas ji guru of Shivaji a warrior hero of India Maharashtra who fought for self rule then. Islam

Islamic scriptural rules on alms are quite reminiscent of the biblical instructions:

If you give alms openly, it is well; but if you do it secretly and give to the poor, that is better. - (Qur-an 2:271a)

In Islam, zakat

 ISLAM:

Zakah is the third pillar of Islam. Zakah is emphasized a lot in the Qur'an and many a times a verse on prayers would be followed by that of giving alms. Allah (s.w) says

And perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, and Irka' (i.e. bow down or submit yourselves with obedience to Allâh) along with ArRaki'ûn (those who bow)
(Qur'an 2:43)
Allah (s.w) has ordered muslims to give out alms as they have a lot of importance. Among them are:

    * Zakah purifys the wealth and causes it to increase
    * Zakah removes hatred between the giver and recipient
    * Zakah removes selfishness and greed from the giver
    * Zakah helps to build love between the giver and recipient
    * Zakah helps the muslim nation to advance as the gap between the rich and poor is narrowed

In some churches the "offering plate" or "offering basket" is placed upon the altar

Altar

An altar is any structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices and votive offerings are made for religion, or some other sacred place where ceremonies take place, as a sign that the offering is made to God, and a sign of the bond of Christian love. In addition, private acts of charity, considered virtuous only if not done for others to admire, are a Christian duty.

CHAKRAS

Chakras

The Chakras are energy vortexes in our body by which various aspects of universal energy are "stepped down" for specific uses.
While there are thousands of chakras in our body, listed below are the seven major chakras with their related stones.

While the listed stones are the ones generally related to that specific chakra, please take note of the following:

You can use clear quartz crystal for all chakras. Agates, Jaspers, Calcites, Tourmalines, Fluorites and Quartz come in many natural colors and can be used with the chakras whose color they relate to.

If you feel a certain stone should or should not be used with a chakra, regardless of color or type, go with your instincts.

All stones seek to harmonize and balance energy in some beneficial way and their particular qualities may or may not be useful for you at any particular time.

For more information on chakras, please see our graph in the articles section.

First Chakra--Root Chakra
This is the root because it absorbs energy from the earth. Its location is at your tailbone and the pubic bone in front. It is sometimes called the basal chakra. It is the most primitive energy center and regulates our basic survival mechanisms. We associate the color red with this chakra. The immune system, our will to live, and our ability to reproduce are in its domain. It is our basic life force and properly stimulated it can ease fears and make us aware of past talents.  Studying the individual chakras begins with the root chakra, called Muladhara in Sanskrit. This center holds the basic needs for survival, security and safety. The root chakra is powerfully related to our contact with the Earth Mother, providing us with the ability to be grounded into the earth plane.   This is also the center of manifestation. When you are trying to make things happen in the material world, business or material possessions, the energy to succeed will come from the first chakra.

It is the center of our higher love, healing, and understanding, and compassion. It is the gatekeeper to the higher chakras and must be unblocked for us to grow spiritually. It is the crossroad of transformation and balance. It stands midway between the physical and spiritual life. Both forms of energy are processed here. If the spiritual energy coming from the upper three chakras is blocked, this will deny the lower three the vital energy required for preparing our physical body for its spiritual growth. This Chakra generally opens during group ritual magick. The fourth chakra is referred to as the heart chakra. It is located behind the breastbone in front and on the spine between the shoulder blades in back. This is the center for love, compassion and spirituality. This center directs one's ability to love themselves and others, to give and to receive love. This is also the chakra connecting body and mind with spirit. Almost everyone today has a hard, hurt, or broken heart, and it is no accident that heart disease is the number one killer in America today.  Deep heart hurts can result in aura obstructions called heart scars. When these scars are released, they raise a lot of old pain, but free the heart for healing and new growth.

The crown chakra is located at the top of the head and functions as an inlet for and as a link with spiritual energies. Violet is it color. This centers also referred to as the "Thousand Petal Lotus" and functions to maintain a continuity of consciousness. It is the 1st chakra to receive spiritual energy from cosmic sources, and last energy center to process energy flowing up from the lower chakras. A block in this chakra means there is no flow of spiritual energy in either direction. Life now becomes stagnant and meaningless. All possibilities for spiritual growth will cease and the physical body will eventually die when this chakra is blocked. Proper balancing of this chakra can release information of our higher self with our physical body. The seventh chakra is referred to as the Crown. It is located just behind the top of the skull. It is the center of spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought and energy. It allows for the inward flow of wisdom, and brings the gift of cosmic consciousness. We as spiritual beings are immersed in the energy field of the universe. This consists of all 5 lower planes. You may only be conscious of events occurring on the physical plane, such as fragrance of perfume, an itch on your body, or the sound of a bird chirping. This does not limit us to the physical plane. The reason we do not perceive these other dimensions are simply due to the fact that our consciousness cannot handle the extra data. The true nature of our being is spiritual and energy based. Normally our energies are in complete balance and harmony. We have a higher self, the perfect part of our soul, which regulates these energies. Chakra energies are a significant component of this system. Our soul is simply energy that’s created in duality and is trying to return to its original source. The subconscious mind is another term for the soul. As spiritual beings composed of energy, we are dynamic in motion, and its natural for us to reach outland interact with other energies. This interaction contributes to our realignment in our own energy systems.

THE EIGHTH CHAKRA-THE TRANSPERSONAL POINT is located several inches above the center of the head is the Transpersonal point. Other names for this center include "Soul Star" and "Heavenly Chi".

The Significance of the number 108

The Significance of the number 108

The Indian Subcontinent rosary or set of mantra counting has 108 beads. 108 has been a sacred number in the Indian Subcontinent for a very long time. This number is explained in many different ways.

The ancient Indians were excellent mathematicians and 108 may be the product of a precise mathematical operation (e.g. 1 power 1 x 2 power 2 x 3 power 3 = 108) which was thought to have special numerological significance.

Powers of 1, 2, and 3 in math: 1 to 1st power=1; 2 to 2nd power=4 (2x2); 3 to 3rd power=27 (3x3x3). 1x4x27=108

Sanskrit alphabet: There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet. Each has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti. 54 times 2 is 108.

Sri Yantra: On the Sri Yantra there are marmas where three lines intersect, and there are 54 such intersections. Each intersections has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti qualities. 54 x 2 equals 108. Thus, there are 108 points that define the Sri Yantra as well as the human body.

9 times 12: Both of these numbers have been said to have spiritual significance in many traditions. 9 times 12 is 108. Also, 1 plus 8 equals 9. That 9 times 12 equals 108.

Heart Chakra: The chakras are the intersections of energy lines, and there are said to be a total of 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra. One of them, sushumna leads to the crown chakra, and is said to be the path to Self-realization.

Marmas: Marmas or marmastanas are like energy intersections called chakras, except have fewer energy lines converging to form them. There are said to be 108 marmas in the subtle body.

Time: Some say there are 108 feelings, with 36 related to the past, 36 related to the present, and 36 related to the future.

Astrology: There are 12 constellations, and 9 arc segments called namshas or chandrakalas. 9 times 12 equals 108. Chandra is moon, and kalas are the divisions within a whole.

Planets and Houses: In astrology, there are 12 houses and 9 planets. 12 times 9 equals 108.

Gopis of Krishna: In the Krishna tradition, there were said to be 108 gopis or maid servants of Krishna.

1, 0, and 8: 1 stands for God or higher Truth, 0 stands for emptiness or completeness in spiritual practice, and 8 stands for infinity or eternity.

Sun and Earth: The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth.

Numerical scale: The 1 of 108, and the 8 of 108, when added together equals 9, which is the number of the numerical scale, i.e. 1, 2, 3 ... 10, etc., where 0 is not a number.

Smaller divisions: The number 108 is divided, such as in half, third, quarter, or twelfth, so that some malas have 54, 36, 27, or 9 beads.

Islam: The number 108 is used in Islam to refer to God.

Jain: In the Jain religion, 108 are the combined virtues of five categories of holy ones, including 12, 8, 36, 25, and 27 virtues respectively.

Sikh: The Sikh tradition has a mala of 108 knots tied in a string of wool, rather than beads.

Chinese: The Chinese Buddhists and Taoists use a 108 bead mala, which is called su-chu, and has three dividing beads, so the mala is divided into three parts of 36 each.

Stages of the soul: Said that Atman, the human soul or center goes through 108 stages on the journey.

Meru: This is a larger bead, not part of the 108. It is not tied in the sequence of the other beads. It is the quiding bead, the one that marks the beginning and end of the mala.

Dance: There are 108 forms of dance in the Indian traditions.

Things to Make Your Mind Body and Soul Great

Things to Make Your Mind Body and Soul Great
By: Gemma Bailey

Mind

   1. Self hypnosis each day

Keep your mind trim by giving it a chance each day to rest and properly process information. Those who practice self hypnosis each day, insist that they feel better for doing so, claiming to have more energy and focus afterwards and achieve their goals with greater ease as the conscious and subconscious are given an opportunity to communicate with each other. Hypnosis can also be used to accelerate healing, so any winter ailments will quickly get better and a routine of practising hypnosis can lead to a general improvement in health.

   2. Increase your interest and intelligence

It’s time to invest in that hobby that you’ve always thought about doing but never really got around to. Having a new interest will stimulate your mind and help to keep it young, whether you’re committing to doing a crossword puzzle each day or learning a new skill like horse riding, or a martial art. You can learn more about your mind with NLP by ordering the People Building NLP Practitioner manual, complete with audio CD’s.

   3. Set some goals

Setting a goal is basically a way of giving yourself a problem. This might not sound terribly appealing but a goal is a quality problem. Goals are great to have as it makes it less likely that the nasty problems that we do not want, will show up in our lives or at least if they do show up, they will not appear as significant as they might have done otherwise. Goals also keep us motivated and enthusiastic and give a wonderful sense of achievement, increasing our self worth, once they are accomplished. See the articles page to find tips on how to set achievable goals.

Body

   1. Stop smoking/Get your body to the correct weight

Out of these two health hazards quitting smoking is the most important thing you can do for the benefit of your health. There are so many people I know who are devoted to self improvement and invest in all sorts of courses to improve their thinking and focus. Yet if your body is unhealthy, you have missed the point. Nothing you can achieve is ever superseded by your health, but people fail to get this message, until they get sick.

The People Building website has resources to assist smoking cessation and weight loss. Check out the Quit Smoking Hypnosis Audios, the Weight Loss Audios and Freedom from Smoking the NLP Way, an e book guaranteed to have you quit cigarettes or claim your money back.

   2. Exercise more

Even if you exercise already, you can benefit from revamping your regime to prevent a plateau occurring in your level of fitness. You should be doing 3 hours exercise every week and whilst this should ideally be cardiovascular, any amount is better than none at all. Exercise doesn’t have to mean going to the scary gym, it could be taking a walk, swimming, ice skating or another fun physical activity that you enjoy! Download Motivation for Exercise, a hypnosis MP3 from itunes or from the People Building website.

   3. Eat your 5 a day

Here are the rules with your 5 fruit and vegetables a day. A portion is about the amount you could fit in one of your own handfuls (so for children it is as much as they could fit in their own handful). You need to have as many different colours as possible (for example green grapes, red strawberries, blueberries, yellow banana, orange carrots) and eating two portions of the same food will still only classed as one portion. So if you eat 5 apples in one day it is still only one portion, the same applies if you have 3 glasses of orange juice, it’s still only one portion. Potatoes are not classed as vegetables in your 5 a day, they are carbohydrates. If you’re not keen of fruit and vegetables, try the Exploring Food Hypnosis Audio.

Spirit

   1. Be more grateful

In the hit film “The Secret” the term “develop an attitude of gratitude” was coined. This means being grateful for what you have already. Remember that the Law of Attraction is working with a time delay. Feeling lack in the moment of now, sends a signal to the universe to bring you more lack in the future. Feeling grateful now, tells the universe that you are feeling thankful and welcoming. The universe will know that you are ready to receive and will begin pointing you in the direction of achieving what you desire in the future. Check out the Law of Attraction tips in the People Building podcast.

 2. Give more

Make time in your routine to give to others. Giving your time or knowledge is far more empowering that simply giving your money. If you do give your money to a charity, find out about what difference your cash is making. Read up on tithing from the Catherine Ponder book “The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity” to find out more about the benefits of giving.

 3. Forgive those that you need to

Harbouring onto old hurts and mistrusts zaps both your energy and spirit. It’s not for me to say how you should forgive those who you feel have wronged you in some way. It could be that you need to give them a call if you haven’t spoken to them for a while. Or that you take the time to see an old situation from a new perspective in which you see how this situation has helped to develop you in some positive way. It could be that you write a letter that you later stick on the bonfire it doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you choose something that will help you move on with your life, leaving the bad feeling behind you.

 4. Sort out your finances

I recently listened to a podcast all about manifesting money. Whilst it is definitely important to be grateful for what you have in order to feel more abundant, it isn’t necessarily the most practical way to increase your bank balance, and I was surprised to hear that this was the general theme of the podcast. In order to get your finances in hand, you have to first understand your current situation, If you’re in debt you need to know by how much, what the interest is and formulate a plan to get it paid back. If you’re investing, talk to someone who has invested well. You will always be better off investing in assets (e.g. property) that in savings which do not grow at the same rate of interest as inflation, meaning your savings are worth less each year. Remember that these days most banks are run like supermarkets, always trying to sell you additional products. Your banker is no longer an investor, but an employee who may have just finished his A levels. Try our new Hypnotic MP3, Abundance to bring more wealth your way.
